Follow-up email after applying
Haven’t heard back? Fill in the details and copy a short follow-up that reminds them who you are and why you fit — without sounding pushy.
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to HiroHunt or stored.
When to follow up
Give it about one to two weeks after applying, or a few days after the deadline the job post gave. If you’ve heard nothing after one follow-up, send at most one more a week or two later — then move on and keep applying.
What makes a good follow-up
- Short. Four or five sentences is plenty.
- Specific. Name the role and when you applied so they can find you.
- One reason you fit. A single concrete point beats repeating your resume.
- Easy to answer. End with a simple question or an offer to send more.
Who to send it to
The hiring manager is best if you can find them; otherwise the recruiter named on the job post, or the general careers address. A short LinkedIn message works too, using the same words.
Questions
Is it pushy to follow up?
No — one polite follow-up is normal and shows interest. Several in a short time is what feels pushy.
What subject line should I use?
Keep the job title in it so it’s easy to find, like “Following up: Marketing Manager application”.
Is my information saved?
No. The email is built in your browser and nothing is stored.
