Resume keyword checker
Paste your resume and the job description. You’ll see how many of the job’s important words your resume already uses, and which ones are missing.
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to HiroHunt or stored.
How the match is worked out
The checker picks the words and two-word phrases that matter most in the job post — the ones that come up more than once, tools and names written with capitals, and terms like C++ or CI/CD — and leaves out everyday words. Then it looks for each one in your resume, including close forms (manage, managed, management). The score is the share of those keywords your resume already uses, weighted by how often the job post repeats them.
What to do with missing keywords
- Only add what’s true. A keyword you can’t talk about in an interview does more harm than good.
- Use the job’s exact wording. If the post says “stakeholder management”, write that, not only “worked with stakeholders”.
- Put them where they prove something. A keyword inside a bullet with a result beats a long skills list.
- Don’t chase 100%. Around 70–80% of the important words is usually a well-tailored resume; the rest is often filler or nice-to-haves.
Why keywords matter
Recruiters skim, and many companies search or rank applications in an applicant tracking system (ATS) by the words in them. A resume that uses the job’s language is easier to find and quicker to read as a fit. Keywords won’t get you hired on their own, but missing the obvious ones can keep a good resume from being read.
Questions
Is my resume stored anywhere?
No. The check runs in your browser. Nothing you paste is sent to HiroHunt or saved.
Does a high score mean I’ll pass the ATS?
No tool can promise that — every company sets up its system differently. A high score means your resume uses the job’s important words, which helps both software and the person reading it.
Can I upload a PDF?
Paste the text instead: open your resume, select all, copy and paste. That also shows you what an ATS “sees” — if the text comes out jumbled, the layout may be hard for software to read.
