Job offer comparison

Put up to three offers side by side. You’ll see the first-year total, the yearly total after that, and what each really pays per hour once commute is counted.

Side by side

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to HiroHunt or stored.

Look past the salary

Two offers with the same salary can be very different jobs. A bonus that’s paid every year, a pension match or an hour less commute each day are all worth real money. The calculator adds them up into one yearly figure, then divides by the hours you’d actually spend on the job — including travel.

What “real pay per hour” means

It’s your yearly total ÷ (working hours + commuting hours) over a year with your vacation days taken off. It’s the fairest single number to compare offers with different hours and commutes. It isn’t everything — growth, team and how much you’d enjoy the work matter too — but it stops a big salary from hiding a long week.

Tips before you decide

  • Ask how the bonus has paid out in the last few years, not just its target.
  • Value equity carefully — private-company shares may be worth nothing for years.
  • If one offer is clearly better except for one number, that number is your negotiation. See the salary negotiation email.

Questions

Should I include the signing bonus?

It counts in the first year only, so it shows up in the first-year total but not in later years.

How do I value benefits?

Use what you’d pay yourself to get the same thing: an employer pension contribution, health insurance, meal or travel allowances, a phone or laptop you’d otherwise buy.

Is any of this saved?

No. It runs in your browser and forgets everything when you close the page.
